This marked a significant milestone for ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ University as the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Kobia Ataya, PhD, officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mr. Georg Willeit, Vice President of Lebenshilfe Tirol gem GmbH, Austria.
The signing ceremony took place at the KeMU Towers, Nairobi Campus, and was witnessed by key stakeholders from both institutions.
This groundbreaking partnership seeks to:
1. Facilitate the deployment of KeMU-trained nursing alumni to Austria to help meet the country’s demand for 6,000 nurses.
2. Collaboratively enhance KeMU’s nursing curriculum implementation to align with global healthcare standards.
The partnership will open international employment opportunities for KeMU alumni while addressing Austria’s critical nursing workforce needs. It also underscores KeMU’s commitment to producing globally competitive healthcare professionals through academic excellence and strategic collaborations.
Present during the ceremony were Dr. Titus Mutwiri, PhD, Dean of the School of Health Sciences; Dr. Lily Masinde, Chair of the Department of Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics; Ms. Miriam Orang’, Lecturer in the Nursing Department; Ms. Joccylyn Mwikali from the VC’s office and in charge of KeMU Collaborations; Ruth Nyambura, a proud KeMU nursing alumna; and Ms. Rose Barasa representing Lebenshilfe.
This collaboration signifies a new chapter in KeMU’s global engagement agenda, reaffirming its vision of holistic development, service, and impact beyond borders.
